Distribution of NH Laws
The NH State Library coordinates the distribution of printed volumes of NH Laws
Per NH RSA 20:1 “At the close of a legislative session, the director of legislative services shall cause such number of copies of all the acts and resolves thereof, with an appropriate index, to be printed as the joint committee on legislative facilities shall determine. ... After retaining sufficient copies for the required distribution, the state librarian shall sell copies of paper bound or hard bound laws to other persons requesting them.”
Volumes, either hardcover or softcover, may be pre-ordered, free of charge by:
- Each free public library established under the laws of the state of New Hampshire
- The town clerk of each New Hampshire town
- The state or territorial library of each U.S. state and territory
Other individuals or organizations may pre-order the printed volumes at the price of $35 for hardcover and $20 for softcover (including shipping within the U.S.)
If you would like to receive a printed volume of the laws for the current legislative session you MUST complete an order form and send it with appropriate payment to the NH State Library BEFORE September 1st. This will allow us to include your volume in the print run.
Only pre-ordered copies will be produced for distribution by the State Library, so even if you are getting a free copy you must complete an order form and send it by the deadline.
Over the past decade we had gotten away from pre-ordering (which is what the RSA specifies) and as a result have quite a few extra volumes on hand from past years. These volumes may be ordered by completing a past-years order form. Please review the current inventory list to see what volumes are available and their prices.
Questions about ordering session laws should be directed to nhu-pac@dncr.nh.gov.
