Town, City & County Reports
The State Library maintains a collection of Town and City reports for every municipality in New Hampshire as well as annual reports for New Hampshire’s ten counties. With help from the University of New Hampshire’s Dimond Library, the town and city reports are now available online as well.
According to RSA 201-A:18:
The clerk in each town and city shall forward to the state library 2 copies each, and to the library of the University of New Hampshire one copy each, of the city or town report for the previous fiscal year.
As a result, the state library has built a complete collection of town and city reports, dating in most cases to the late 1800s, and sometimes even earlier. These reports are available to patrons visiting the State Library.
Now, as a result of a cooperative project between the State Library and the University of New Hampshire's Scholar's Repository, these reports are available online as well. Visit the City and Town Reports page on the UNH Scholar's Repository website to view the collection.
The State Library also maintains a collection of County Reports, although not all of this collection has been digitized. What has been digitized is included in the UNH Repository.
Use our online catalog to search for any of these Reports. Using the Advanced Search page and limiting your search to the "Town Reports" Collection (or narrowing search results using the collection facets on the left-hand side of the search results screen will bring up all of these reports (including most County ones).
